After two girls fell to their deaths off a building in Russia, the local police in the country are now investigating similar cases. Why? Because they fear a ‘game’ may have been triggered them to do this. The police are speculating that the recent suicides were influenced by an online craze called ‘Blue Whale.’

What is Blue Whale ?

This game is seen as a symbol of freedom , and is a social media ‘suicide game’ where participants are required to follow a set of 50 instructions, some proving to be really fatal. The tasks are often disturbing and also include self-harm. Eventually, the sick game encourages players to commit suicide.

It is being claimed that the participants, mostly teenagers, are urged to use a knife to draw the shape of a whale on their wrist or leg first.

They are reportedly also asked to watch horror movies all day which weakens their mind.

Among the latest ones to commit suicide were Yulia Konstantinova, 15, and Veronika Volkova (pictured), 16.

While Yulia left a note saying ‘End’ on her social page, her friend Veronika wrote, ‘Sense is lost… End’. An investigation further revealed that the girls regularly posted messages with heart-breaking sentiments, such as, ‘Do you feel that gradually you become useless?’ or ‘I’m just a ghost’.

Reportedly, before Yulia and Veronica, an unidentified  14-year-old too had committed suicide by throwing herself under a commuter train.

Last year, reputed Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta reported:

“We have counted 130 suicides of children that took place between November 2015 to April 2016. Almost all these children were members of the same internet groups and lived in good, happy families.
We know absolutely for sure is that adults are working with children, with the help of knowledge of their habits and passions, using their favourite language and culture.”

“They know psychology well, they convince girls that they are ‘fat’, tell boys that they are ‘losers’ in this world. And that there is another world and they will be among the chosen.”

So all of you there . If there is any issues  please don’t hesitate to talk to your families and friends. There is always hope in this world . You just have to look up from your smart phones and laptops.
