In a shocking development, famed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt recently received an extortion call from an unidentified person . The caller asked the filmmaker to deposit RS 50 Lakhs in his bank account. Thereafter, the individual stressed that if Mahesh did not do so, he would kill him, his daughter Alia and wife Soni Razdan.
The Zakhm director took these calls lightly at first as such calls are frequent in the Bollywood world. However, when the caller warned him against taking the threats as a prank, he filed a complaint with the Juhu police. The case was soon transferred to Mumbai police’s Anti Extortion Cell who then contacted the UP police from where the call came from.
A Suspect Has Been Nabbed
Revealing more details about this, sources from the Mumbai Police said that they have already detained one person in connection with the case and are currently interrogating him.
“A case is registered under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion.), We have detained one and he is being interrogated,” the source added.
Mahesh Bhatt Is Safe
Interestingly, shortly after the Police took action, Mahesh sent out a message and thanked the cops for ensuring his safety.
